The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F
So, how is it that in a world of so much stimulation, suggestion, criticism, content and opportunity, that we somehow can let it all go and feel good in our own skin?
Well, for starters, it’s time to ‘let go of the FOMO’… say it with me, ‘let go of the FOMO’
It is perfectly okay to say no to a Friday night out if you know the next day you plan to get up for an early spin class. It is also perfectly okay to say no to a date, a work happy hour, a family dinner, or simply something that does not align with your current needs.
There seems to be fine line between feeling obligated, and truly enjoying what we commit to doing. As we get older, and the types of obligations change, so do our values, goals, and overall energy (can I get a “but I’m le tired”). So, how to adapt to a new rhythm of life that still accommodates fun and festive but also gets us to bed at a decent hour?
The answer? Stop worrying so much about what everyone else thinks. Listen to your gut, your mind, your body. What is it telling you? Do you need some extra zzz’s? Do you need a night out with the girls? Do you need a romantic getaway with your lova? Or do you truly need a self time out?
The greatest gift we can ever truly give ourselves is to (join in here..) ‘let go of the FOMO’!
